I've noticed I have a tendency to want to work on way too many things, and I have to try and limit myself to only working on a few at once if I want to ever get anything done. But it's still fun to think about what I might want to work on in the future, whether or not I ever get to it...
I'm currently working on Nova the Squirrel 2 - an ambitious SNES platformer game. And I've got a Game Boy Color side project I want to pick up again at some point, and an online game called Tilemap Town which has a 3DS client. Those are the projects I'd consider to actually be in progress, for varying levels of what in-progress means.
But aside from those... I want to eventually make some sort of 3D PC game, probably using Godot, and I want to make some sort of Jumping Flash! inspired game. Nova the Squirrel 2 has some Jumping Flash! inspired sections but mode 7 can only go so far in replicating a PlayStation game, especially without any expansion chips. I'd love to make a 3D platformer and Jumping Flash! seems like a much more reasonable goal than something like Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
I want to make more console games too; I love how Kirby and Sonic have a lot of spinoff games on handhelds and I want to do that too, though because I'm one person I'll definitely have to be picky and just make the ones I want the most. I wouldn't go do a breakout clone just because Kirby did it, for instance. I think Game Boy spinoffs would be a great opportunity to have little games starring some of my other characters; there's that Maffi game but it'd be really good to give Rosy and Sherbet little games too.
Eventually I want to do an enhanced version of Nova the Squirrel 1 since the graphics could be way better than they were. I'd also like to redo the story, or parts of it, to focus less on cameos of people I don't even talk to anymore and more on original characters. It could be fun to have a SNES port of it too but that'd be a whole project of its own.
I have an NES platformer I started on at one point, which was supposed to be like Nova the Squirrel 1 but fit in 64KB and not use extra RAM, so and that'd be fun to pick up. I don't know how feasible the 64KB limit is, but if not I can just change the project's goal.
There's a Wario's Woods clone I want to make, and I started on the very beginning of a GBA version at one point. I'd want to make a PC version with online play too. I like games where you can put a whole series' character roster in, and racing games and puzzle games are the ones I associate with that sort of thing. I don't know as much about racing games but doing a puzzle game with a lot of my characters sounds fun!
