There's a really pretty park near where I live named Promenade Park that is built around showcasing Fort Wayne's rivers, and there's a space there for events as well as a restaurant, and the restaurant that has been there has shifted a few times but it's currently "TEDS Snack + Bar" which opened last year. It's been closed since last winter, but it's open again and I got to go again for the first time!
They were advertising an updated menu, and I was concerned about if the foods I enjoyed would still be there, but thankfully it turns out the updated menu just means they now also serve ice cream. I saw the usual flavors there but also stuff like scooperman, which I got. I think it was just normal generic ice cream like you might get from a store, which seems a little silly when there's a food truck that's also frequently at Promenade Park with homemade ice cream in fun flavors like mango or guava that's also cheaper. You can get a banana split with 3 scoops for the same price as 2 scoops from TEDS Snack + Bar, though the homemade ice cream is a little funky texture-wise and sometimes you do want something normal. And in either case it can be nice to have ice cream you can just get right there instead of having to run home.
I feel like the menu is a little mixed, in that some things feel overpriced for what you get and some things I don't mind the price for. The soft pretzel and grilled cheese sandwiches are both excellent (especially the grilled cheese, which is very fancy and flavorful; probably the best grilled cheese sandwich I've had in my life) and aren't things I could effortlessly make at home. The pretzel especially is really big and it feels like a generous food portion, and frozen pretzels never really feel quite the same, so it's convenient to get them here.
The popcorn chicken and mozzarella sticks on the other hand feel maybe overpriced, because the serving size is pretty small for the price and these kinds of foods are also trivial to prepare with an air fryer. I did enjoy the popcorn chicken a lot though, and the restaurant's own ranch dip is very good. I guess the takeaway here is to try and focus on food that contrasts against the kind of stuff you just eat at home, but that's probably missing the point that this place probably isn't supposed to try and be its own restaurant that stands on its own, the same way that the concession stand at a movie theater isn't trying to be a candy store that stands on its own.
I guess while I'm at it, I remember liking the pizza bread and feeling iffy about the chili; I did finish the chili though I'm pretty picky about chili and it's easy for chili to be something other than what I expect. But I'd recommend giving it a try. The hot dogs are fine and are on sale sometimes; hopefully they still do that?
I do like the shaved ice quite a bit! That's also something that's tricky to do at home because you need to have a bunch of different bottles for different flavors if you want to replicate all the options you have here. It's still expensive for ice with syrup on it, but they do put a good amount of syrup on it at least. Pink Flamingo is a nice flavor I want to highlight because you can actually taste the different aspects that make it up (pink lemonade, strawberry, vanilla) and I like that; with my own stuff I tend to end up with a slurry of different fruit flavors mixing together, which isn't bad but sometimes I want to taste other stuff.
